Whiter, Dammit!
It's offical. I've now tried all the varieties of Wite-Out: "Extra Coverage" Wite-Out, "Quick Dry" Wite-Out and "Super Smooth" Wite-Out. The verdict: Super Smooth, all the way. Quick Dry really does dry rather quickly, I have to give it that, but the Super Smooth is just...well, smoother. I can wait a couple of seconds for more smoothness.
The Extra Coverage Wite-Out just seems excessive. It's like some kind of asbestos pudding. I could maybe see using it to hide a dead body, but for general office use it's just overkill.

Let me tell you, asbestos pudding is no way to hide a body. You could obscure a body with it sure, change the lines of contour, disrupt the mind's pattern seeking abilities, so that one could discard a body covered in asbestos pudding in some place like a laundromat or the nave of a cathedral. That body could sit there an hour or a month but at somepoint someone is going to ask it for "Tide" or absolution and then the jig is, as you say, up.
It's gotta work pretty well, since they still haven't found Robinson.
